Learn to fly in one private two-hour lesson. All the gear is ours, so you just bring a swimsuit.
What you get
A private two-hour lesson, one-to-one, at the pace that suits you. We provide the board, the vest and the safety gear. No experience is needed and you do not have to be an athlete: balance matters far more than strength.
We keep it to one rider at a time, so the whole two hours on the water is yours.
How the two hours go
On the beach we fit your vest and cover the hand controller and the safety rules, then walk you through these six steps on the sand, where the technique is easier to learn than it is on the water. You then do them in the same order out on the lake.
- 1
Lying down
You start flat on the board, getting a feel for the power and for how quickly it gathers speed.
- 2
Up on your knees
Once that feels comfortable you come up onto your knees, and ride like that until it feels settled too.
- 3
Flying from your knees
Still kneeling, you ease the board up onto the foil. It is the gentlest way to feel what flying above the water is like.
- 4
On your feet
You stand up, keeping the board on the surface, until being upright feels as steady as kneeling did.
- 5
Touch and goes
Standing now, you lift onto the foil and set it back down, again and again, until you know exactly where the balance point is.
- 6
Holding it there
Then you hold it up. That is the whole thing: you are flying.
Before you come
Bring a swimsuit, a towel and sunscreen. You should be a confident swimmer and comfortable in deep water. We teach on calm days. That is often early morning or evening, though some days are calm right through, and a typical week on Lake Huron brings a couple that are ideal for learning. The forecast is reliable about a week out, so we watch it and suggest times to you.
Book your lesson
Email us with the dates you are at the lake and we will find a calm window that works.
